What I Wore December 11th

I've worn this dress before, and blogged it, too, but I love it and I wore it in December just after I dyed my hair because of the pink flash in the dress too.

Again I'm sorry for the bathroom picture! I really need to buy a full length mirror.

Pink hair don't care

I recently dyed the top of my hair pink. This is something I've always wanted to do, but needing to keep a degree of professionalism at work has stopped me. Now I'm self-employed, and I'm at university, and I felt like I could dye my hair. Lee did it for me, and I did his! First of all we bleached certain parts, blocking mine off with foil. The top went white blonde, the end less so, but it was okay. Then I used Schwarzkopf XL Brights in this bright pink. It is only semi-permanent but it's held up so far. I love the difference!

What I Wore November 17th

I was away for the weekend this weekend. My friend Amy was turning 30 and she had a weekend away in a few cottages - there were 28 of us! We had such a fun time and on the Sunday we went out for Sunday lunch in a tiny pub before everyone went home. This is what I wore.

This ridiculously busy floral/paisley dress is from Excite Clothing and it's so cosy for winter. I love the pattern so so much!

November outfit

I can't remember when I wore this outfit, but I was looking through my phone earlier and realised I hadn't blogged it. I've been wearing this jumper a lot because it's so warm in the cold weather!

Jumper was from crazyclearance.co.uk, it was very cheap
Cami top is from Marks and Spencer, it can be seen elsewhere on the blog
Skirt is from Yours Clothing

Picture taken in a uni bathroom, sorry but it's a useful full length mirror!

What I Wore November 24th

I can't believe it's only a month until Christmas! I'm like a kid, I love Christmas so much.

Yesterday my partner Lee put on an all dayer punk gig in Sheffield with 10 bands on, including his own. I'm very proud of the work he does to put gigs on, and I'm really proud of his new band Chewed Up and their sound, even though they haven't been together very long. I worked the door for a while, I had vegan hot dog, vegan chilli, vegan cupcake and eventually vegan brownie. I sat reading while the last band was on, and I made friends with the guitarist from a different band! It was a good day.

This is what I wore. I wish I'd put leggings on instead of tights as I was sitting in a very cold foyer and was FREEZING. It took me a long time to warm up once we finally got home!

Out of My Comfort Zone, Again

Today's OMCZ is The Colour of Confidence and it was chosen by Vicky who doesn't do this challenge anymore. She wrote:

"My theme is going to "The Colour of Confidence".  For me, red is the colour of confidence and everything I wear it, be it lipstick or clothing; I feel an extra boost. What is your confidence colour?"

Red is really my confidence colour. I like a little bit of it, a red bracelet or ring, red lipstick, etc. I don't usually wear a full red dress, but I recently got this skater dress from Excite Clothing and decided to wear it yesterday to uni.

You'll have to excuse the photo taken by myself in a toilet mirror, but that's just the way it goes sometimes.

What I Wore November 12th

Are you sick of these dresses from everything5pounds.com yet? Cos I'm not! I like the shades of grey on this one, and I also really like the arms. Throwing this type of dress on is so easy but looks so stylish!

Christmas Tag

I stole this post off Becky who posted it here.

Do you prefer a real Christmas tree or synthetic?
We have a really nice synthetic tree, but last year we got a real one and it was just LOVELY. It smelt so nice and was so pretty. I think we'll alternate and get a real one every other year.

You're in a coffee shop, it's December, what do you pick up?
My usual, probably - a decaf vanilla latte. I don't drink caffeine at all, and I'm not keen on Christmas spiced stuff.

What's your favourite colour scheme for decorating the tree?
Everything for our tree used to be silver and blue because that matched our living room, but we've been buying other colour decorations, and we inherited some of my childhood baubles, so really I just like ALL THE COLOURS.

Giving or receiving?
I love getting presents - who doesn't - but I love giving them too. I put a lot of thought into all the gifts we give to my family and Lee's family and my friends - seriously all he buys are mine! I wrap them all, which I really enjoy, too.

To mince pie or not to?
Oooh definitely, I love them. I loathe Christmas pudding and can take or leave Christmas cake, but I do like mince pies, especially warmed with Cointreau cream!
What's your traditional Christmas lunch?
Turkey, stuffing, sausages in bacon, Yorkshire puddings (very controversial around our way but Lee insists and my mother indulges him!), vegetables, bread sauce (I could live on it to be honest)

Christmas day fashion
Something nice and a bit smart.

What's your favourite Christmas song?
Fairytale of New York by The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl - classic.

What's your favourite Christmas film?
Die Hard! Haha, I'm not really one for gushy romantic type films. Lee and I always watch Die Hard, my family doesn't really watch films at Christmas.

Open presents before or after lunch?
We usually stagger it and it takes forever cos everyone likes to see what everyone else got! I'm glad I'm an only child or it would take several days!

What I Wore 9th November

Lee (my partner), Sam (my BFF) and I went to see the Toy Dolls in Nottingham. Known for their cover of Nellie the Elephant, they're a really fun punk band who play comedy songs but with such finesse. They're one of Lee's favourite bands but they don't tour very often so we haven't seen them since September 2007. They managed to miss out Yorkshire though so we had to go to Nottingham. Anyway, it was a brilliant gig! This is what I wearing.

Dress - everything5pounds.com (it has a small stripe in it. Leah had a problem with this dress because it cut across her boobs; I have the same issue, but for £5 it's wearable).
Cardigan - Evans in the sale over the summer
Leggings - H&M
Boots - Dr Martens

Sorry for the bouncer on the edge!

Out of My Comfort Zone

I haven't done OMCZ for a while, because I kept forgetting about it, whoops. But yesterday I got four dresses from everything5pounds.com and decided I'd wear one for uni yesterday. I already had the grey with red stripes (you can see it here). Then at the weekend Chloe emailed me to tell me that the website was stocking more colours, so I had to go get them. I got burgundy with pin stripes, grey with grey stripes, the two tone one, and this one.

It's actually grey with navy stripes so I'll be looking for some navy leggings to wear with it. I wore a pair of leggings I also got from everything5pounds. However, I can't give them a good review as they were terrible. They kept falling down all the time and when I took them off they'd dyed my legs black! Ugh.

The dress is cute though! I didn't used to wear horizontal stripes but now I wear them with pride - they are classic and I look cute!

Check out all the other babes in their stripes!

What I Wore October 27th

I went to a rad fat meet up on Sunday, the first of what organiser Emily hopes will become a regular meet up to get together and just chat. I went all out and wore my new Simply Be tartan dress. I'm loving the tartan craze as it appeals to my punk aesthetic. I did my make up with bright red lips, and as you can see, I've bleached and dyed the top of my hair blue. I know it won't last long but I love it anyway.

iPhone selfie so apologies for the quality.

Dress - Simply Be
Denim jacket - New Look
Shoes - those Truffle ones I posted about the other day!

And here you can see it with the top underneath; I wore it because I don't like bare arms.

What I Wore 26th October

My friend Lucinda came to visit me. We met at Sheffield train station and got the tram up to the cathedral. We mooched around some shops and then went to the Blue Moon Cafe for lunch. It's all veggie and there's a lot of vegan choice too. We both had a quesedilla and salad. We went around the shops some more, then went into the Winter Gardens for coffee. We then had a long wait in the station to get back to my house as we'd just missed a train, but not to worry!

Here's what I wore. I'm sorry the picture isn't better.

Black cardigan - New Look years ago

I felt very sassy in this outfit, I have to say!

What I Wore October 23rd

October 23rd was a loooong day. I went to uni at 11 to do some reading and some work. My lecture was 1.30-3.30 and then I sat in the cafe with some friends until 6pm when there is an evening masterclass. This week was a poet from America, I liked him. I missed the 7.30 train home though, so I didn't get home until 9pm. Phew!

I only ever wear dresses for uni, because that is the image I'm presenting. This lip print dress is from Asos Curve and I missed it when it was on sale. I'd been stalking it on eBay for ages, but Lolly gave me hers! Whee! The cardigan is from Sainsburys. My jewellery is all very pink and very junky, I love it.

Close up so you can see my ring.

My amazing shoes

I was wearing these shoes at uni last week. I can't wear them without socks so I've decided that for the autumn and winter they will be my go-to shoes. They're really cosy. Anyway, I was going up some steps and the man behind me, when we reached the top, said "Great docs!"

I smiled, said thank you, and carried on my merry way.

I'll tell you what I didn't tell the man. These aren't Dr Martens shoes.

Oh, they're a very good fake, yes. But they're by a brand called Truffle and they cost me £15 inc postage on eBay. I only found them because I was searching for "oxblood shoes" because I wanted some.

I think they're amazing, I love how badass they make me feel!

What I Wore October 10th

I went to work in Huddersfield today. I work in a charity two days a month. I really love it. I asked my boss to take a photo of me and although she was bemused she did it. I apologise for the files down the right hand side!

The dress is from Taillissime, which is La Redoute's plus size collection. I bought it over two years ago and used to wear it with a skirt, because I didn't have the confidence to wear dresses like this back then. Since then I haven't touched it, but decided yesterday that it would be lovely with leggings and a belt. It's a lovely colour, and a lovely soft knit. Very suitable for the autumn and winter!

What I Wore October 9th

I went to uni today. I have a lecture, and then a big gap, and then a masterclass in the evening where people do readings or a professional comes to speak to us or something. This week I just had the lecture, and my writing got reviewed, which was HORRIBLE!

This is what I wore. All from Asos! I got the dress in the sale in January and I hadn't actually worn it before. I got the leggings in July, also in the sale. I'm glad I did, because the knees have already gone a little baggy. I do love them, though. I like this outfit and think the colours look fab :)

What I Wore October 8th

Now, the good news is that I have added another self employed job to my portfolio. I'll be working in Leeds one day a week doing bookkeeping. Today was my first day and this is what I wore.

Now, both these pieces are new. I bought them in Doncaster on our fat shopping trip. The skirt is from Yours and was £23 and the top is from New Look and was £7 in the sale. I love them both, individually. Together I'm not sure.

A few years ago, this kind of thing was what I wore for work all the time. I wouldn't wear a shorter skirt and I wouldn't wear a dress. I might sometimes wear those things otherwise, but at work I dressed like this. My old skirt like this is wrecked, so I am really glad to have a new one, and I love the details on the arms of the top, but but but ---- something. Just something felt wrong. I didn't feel like me.

I will mix this pieces with other things and see what I think - and next week for this job I'm going in a dress and leggings!

Wales Outfit #4

We took our bikes to Wales and went for a ride around a reservoir one day. There was a dam and some blackberry woods to ride through. Lee and I cycled about two miles!

Here I am on my beautiful bike. I'm wearing a Joe Browns cropped jumper from Simply Be which is absolutely gorgeous - really soft and warm but not long-sleeved, it's my ideal jumper!

We stopped for a group shot. That's my mum and stepdad in front, and Lee and I in the back. You can't see my t-shirt which is sad because I haven't blogged it before!

My mum being joyful.

And another action shot. Fat babe on a bike!

Swimming on Holiday

Where we were in Wales had a lot of amenities. There was a games room with a pool table, a table tennis table, a table football table, and other stuff. There was a snooker table in its own room. There were games and jigsaws and books to borrow. Then there was a big swimming pool which had a jet stream, and a sauna and stuff. Lee and I went swimming every day, and my mum came a few times too. My stepdad came in on the last night to take some photos of us.

So here we are swimming!

Wales Outfit #3

I was very much on a capsule wardrobe in Wales, but that was good because I was forced to mix and match it up! I wasn't sure what the weather would be like, either. On the first full day we went to look at this lighthouse and Puffin Island, and then we saw dolphins in the sea and stood for ages watching them! Okay they may have been porpoises but they were still incredibly beautiful!

All photos were taken by my mum or my stepdad, and stolen off their Facebook! Haha.

You can see the lighthouse in the background, it's very pretty. Puffin Island is on the right of it, and the straits between the two is really small.

See? Dolphin! Or porpoise!

What I Wore 30th September

I went to see my friend Roslyn, she's one of my oldest friends - we were at school together. She was living in Ipswich but moved back north, and has recently moved to this gorgeous little flat in Sheffield. It's a really quiet location and this is her private garden at the back which overlooks the river Don. Lovely!

This dress was from everything5pounds.com. I've been checking out the website for a while and recommend you do too! Everything IS £5, and returns are really easy and simple. However, the plus size section can be hit and miss. Sometimes straight size things are mistakenly in there, and things go quickly. If you see something you like, buy it because it might be gone next time you look! But in all it's a fun place to look. I love this dress!

Wales Outfit #2

I wore this when we went to Rhyl and Betws y Coed. These jeans are the Kate style from Simply Be and they are just great. I haven't worn jeans in a VERY long time, I always wear skirts and dresses. But these were in the sale so I decided to get them and I'm glad I did.

The top is from Yours and it too was in the sale for £11, I really like it. My mum liked this outfit, too; it was the kind of thing she would have worn!

What I Wore October 5th

So yesterday I went to Doncaster for the second Rad Fat shopping trip. (The first one I wrote about here). There were only four of us but that made it really manageable I think; a good number. We went to Simply Be, Yours, New Look, Primark, and more! I'll share what I bought later, of course.

This is what I wore:

Dress, from Lovedrobe via New Look, in the sale
Belt, Evans
Leggings, H&M

I thought I'd show you my nails and jewellery. The nail polish is Holbein Place by Nails Inc and it took two coats which impressed me! My watch is from Argos and Lee has a matching one that's green. My bracelet was from Primark a few years ago.

Bonus photo of me cuddling the cat!

Wales Outfit #1

Lee and I went to Rhyl while we were in Anglesey, to play in the amusements and stuff. While we were they I popped into the tiny Evans, and bagged a bargain!

I liked this dress when I first saw it in the Scarlett and Jo collection, but I probably didn't like it enough to pay full price for it. But this was on the sale rail for only £15, it was the only one, and it was my size! It definitely had to come home with me.

I wore it out to a lovely restaurant one night, and wore a ton of makeup (by my standards). I felt pretty spiffing!

Lipstick is MAC Russian Red

I'm showing more VBO than I'd usually like, too. But I thought fuck it and wore it anyway!

This was my yummy dessert.

And here's my face, I love this photo even though I was too warm!

Out of My Comfort Zone #16 - Nightwear

This time was my turn to choose the theme and I'd been planning it for months! We never see nightwear in the fat blogging world, and basically I wanted to see all the sexy babes in their nightwear!

This is what I said: "I want to pick 'nightwear'! Let's see what you wear to bed, or flash us your naughty but nice undies, or show us what you'd wear for a good old fashioned sleepover."

I wear nighties, they're not sexy but they're comfortable and don't get stuck to me like pyjamas do (I do wear pyjamas if it's REALLY cold). I buy them in three packs from Simply Yours and then just wear and wear them until they fall apart.

Here is one of my nighties. This is actually about calf length. All my nighties have ridiculous prints on them.

Posting this photo is REALLY out of my comfort zone as I'm not wearing a bra!

And this is my dressing gown. It's from Yours Clothing and it is the softest fluffiest thing ever. Lee calls it my Star Fluff. When I posed for this photo he laughed at me and told me I was cute :D

Visit the other babes in this challenge!

What I Wore 25th September

I've been out today with my friend Leanne. She's one of the loveliest people I know but we haven't seen each other in ages, so we went for lunch in Wakefield. It was yummy, we went to the Handmade Burger Co, I had a lamb burger with feta and tzatziki, Greek style.

Here's what I wore:

Swallow print top, New Look
Skirt, Yours clothing
Leggings, H&M
Cardigan, New Look

This was my necklace, I bought it in Evans last night for only £3 in the sale! It's really blingy and fun.

What I Wore September 17th

Today was a quiet day for me at home. I needed to do some work, so I decided to go to the supermarket first. I got showered, dressed, and was really quick in the supermarket!

This is what I wore.

What I Wore August 31st

By the time you read this I'll be in Wales for a week! I'm going with Lee, my mum, stepdad, and grandma. We wanted to take our bikes so decided a preliminary bike ride would be a good idea. I'd been driving over the moors from home to Manchester this week and decided that I wanted to go on the Trans Pennine Trail near Dunford Bridge. There's a pub near there called the Dog and Partridge which I've always wanted to try, too.

We set off and drove, and parked near the beginning of this part of the trail. My bike needed a lot of air in both tyres, but we set off once that was done. It's a very easy trail as it's very flat - it used to be a train line that went through the Pennines through the Woodhead tunnel. It's got a stream and lots of seats and lots of things to see. It was quite busy for late on a Saturday afternoon with walkers, dogs, lots of cyclists and even a couple of joggers!

It's ages since I was on my bike so I was determined not to push myself too far, but I still managed to cycle over 3 miles! Isn't that impressive? I'm so proud of myself. The others went a bit further and then we turned back. However, the saddle on my bike is broken, and that's meant I've been tipping to one side, and it's put the back wheel and the handlebars out of alignment. The back wheel got stuck and I couldn't ride it all the way back, so we all walked much of the way.

Anyway, here is what I wore

Denim skirt - Simply Be (about five years old)
T-shirt - see below
Pointelle top - New Look (last year)

I had this pointelle top in purple in a size 26 but it's just too big for me - it stretches a LOT. This is a 24 and fits much better. It's really warm :)

My t-shirt was designed by my lovely friend Tukru and proclaims that I love zines!

And this is where we set off from :)

We had tea at the pub and it was REALLY good. There isn't a huge choice and it's mainly ordinary pub fare - fish and chips, sandwiches, steak and ale pie, etc, but it was ALL homecooked - including the chips and onion rings. I had a lovely burger and chips and onion rings, mmmm.
